OCD

Overview

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterised by recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or mental acts (compulsions) that an individual feels compelled to perform. These obsessions and compulsions can be time-consuming distressing, and can significantly interfere with daily life. At Nawa Wellness, our specialised retreat offers comprehensive and personalised treatment for individuals struggling with OCD, providing them with the tools and support needed to manage their symptoms, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall well-being.

The signs and symptoms of OCD can vary from person to person, but common indicators include:

  • Recurrent and persistent thoughts, urges, or images that cause distress (obsessions)
  • Engaging in repetitive behaviours or mental acts to alleviate the anxiety caused by obsessions (compulsions)

  • Repeatedly checking things, such as locks or appliances
  • Arranging objects in a specific order or symmetry
  • Hoarding or difficulty discarding items
  • Intrusive thoughts related to harm, violence, or taboo subjects

These symptoms can significantly impact daily functioning, relationships, and overall quality of life, making it crucial to seek professional help.

Individuals with OCD often face numerous challenges and struggles, such as:

  • Difficulty managing time due to time-consuming rituals and behaviours
  • Impaired work or academic performance
  • Strained relationships with family and friends
  • Increased risk of developing other mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression
